Phone numbers and email aliases
Every call, SMS, or email Covent sends leaves from a specific phone number or email alias. This article covers how to add them and pick your defaults.
Where to configure
Go to Settings > Communications.
Phone numbers
- Add a number. Provisions a new Twilio-backed phone number to your workspace. You can pick by area code so outbound caller ID looks local to your target market.
- Caller ID name. Set the display name shown on outbound calls where the carrier supports it.
- Set as default. Choose which number is used by default for outbound calls and which for outbound SMS (they can be the same or different).
For SMS, the default number must be attached to an approved A2P 10DLC campaign - see How to complete business SMS registration.
Email aliases
- Add an alias. Connect an email address you already own (via OAuth for Google or IMAP/SMTP for others). The alias can be your personal email or a shared team address like
deals@yourcompany.com. - Set as default. Pick which alias is used by default for outbound email.
Using per-campaign
Once you have multiple numbers or aliases, the composer lets you pick which one to send from per-message or per-campaign. This is useful for:
- Running separate outbound numbers per market
- Using a warmer "personal" number for VIP investors
- Isolating campaigns so one poorly performing list doesn't hurt your main sending reputation
